Friday marks the start of the 14th annual Austin City Limits music festival, which will unfurl over the course of two back-to-back weekends in the city's Zilker Metropolitan Park. This year's weekend one boasts an unstoppable list of artists. The revelry will kick back up for round two on Oct. 9.
Friday's schedule begins with a bang, headlined by big-name acts Disclosure and Foo Fighters. The festival's first-day lineup will also see performances from the up-and-coming soul act Leon Bridges and indie powerhouse group Tame Impala. Saturday will get a dose of R&B and rap when Drake and Deadmaus close out the night.
Not to be overshadowed, Alabama Shakes and Shakey Graves will represent the folk-rock contingent on Saturday, which will also see a performance by the infallibly cool alt-rock outfit TV on the Radio. The Weeknd and The Strokes will close out the first weekend Sunday night, preceded by a number of notable acts including alt-J, Hozier, Kurt Vile, Vance Joy and Sylvan Esso. See the full schedule for weekend one and check back next week for info regarding the festival's second weekend.
Tickets: Single-day and three-day tickets are sold out for both weekends, but VIP and platinum passes are still available. VIP passes grant concert-goers access to the festival's "VIP Grove," where food, drinks and mini-spa treatments flow freely. The Platinum Pass takes VIP perks and sweetens the deal with access to artist areas and special stage viewing, plus transportation between stages (so luxe). A weekend-long VIP pass costs $1,100, and the Platinum Pass goes for a whopping $3,600.
For music lovers who don't have a small fortune to spend on a music festival, Red Bull has it covered with live-streaming coverage of the event. Footage will be available beginning on Friday at 2 p.m. CDT.
