The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks, who has made millions upon millions of readers swoon over his cliche-yet-captivating romance novels (and the blockbuster movies adapted from them) released his 20th novel, See Me, on Tuesday.

See Me, released worldwide, tells the story of a young man and woman, both with troubled pasts, falling in love after a "chance encounter on a rainswept road," bring them together, as Sparks wrote in a synopsis of the book on his website.

"Rich in emotion and fueled with suspense, See Me reminds us that love is sometimes forged in the crises that threaten to shatter us ... and that those who see us for who we truly are may not always be the ones easiest to recognize," he wrote — hence the book title.

The romantic thriller is available to download as an ebook for $12.99 on Amazon iBooks, Barnes & Noble and Books-a-Million, and to purchase or order as a physical copy through several companies listed on Sparks' website.

Amazon will host a Twitter Q&A about the novel at 3 p.m. ET using the hashtag #SeeMe.

Sparks will travel to bookstore locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Illinois through Oct. 18, where he will sign books, take pictures with fans, and host conversations about his career and newest novel.
