Democratic National Convention: The True Home to Hateful Speech and Rhetoric

This past week, the party of hope, change, and toned-down rhetoric was on full display in Charlotte, North Carolina. Their party leader, President Barack Obama, has told us all again and again that what we need is a war of ideas, and not words. After the tragic shooting of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, President Obama and his party all claimed to be on the side of civility. (I'll let Keanu Reeves give the response here.)

Too bad that those attending the Democratic National Convention this past week missed the memo. Those that did receive it apparently saw fit to wad it up and toss it out the nearest window. Even when it may have made sense to tone down the rhetoric, many people decided to bore full steam ahead, guns-a-blazing!

During the convention, after it became public knowledge that the 2012 Democratic Party platform had taken out all mentions of God and support for Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, President Obama and the party chiefs buckled. (It should also be noted that Obama had previously seen the platform, and did not object before the Republicans exposed that these things had been removed, but I digress.)

During an open floor vote, the majority of people shouted their opposition to changing the Democratic Party’s platform to once again include God and affirm Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, twice. The delegates in attendance expressed their outrage when Convention chairman and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa seemingly overruled the crowd and declared a two thirds majority.

After this all went down, Patriot TV interviewed Mark Alan Siegel, the Palm Beach County Democrat Chairman. Siegel was wearing a “Jews For Obama” pin. When interviewed by Patriot TV, Mr. Siegel had some rather harsh anti-Christian rhetoric, including that Christians want 'Jews to die.'

Of course, it could be possible that he missed it when a clear majority of the delegates booed Jerusalem, but who knows.

The civility and gentle tone from the delegates at the Democratic National Convention kept on coming. Last week, it came to light that the Secret Service was investigating New York delegate Julia Rodriguez, who stated that she would ‘like to kill him,’ when asked about Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Yikes!

But, there's more. Kansas delegate Pat Lehman likened the GOP to Hitler, stating that their urge for sensible Voter ID laws were designed to suppress voter turnout. During her comments, Lehman compared Republican rationale for these laws to Hitler’s “Big Lie” strategy. When asked if she would apologize or retract her comments, Lehman doubled down.

Meanwhile, South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian joined those who were comparing the Republicans to Nazis, this time targeting his remarks at South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. “She was down in the bunker a la Eva Braun,” Harpootlian said.

We could also get into what the delegates were saying when it came to banning corporate profits, all of them. Nevermind that that would most likely cause the collapse of all business growth and investment.

This is the party of civility? The party the claims the rhetoric has gotten too harsh, and that the Republicans are the party of name calling and polarization? Of course, is it really that much of a surprise? Are we really going to be shocked when this is the same party that claims that Republicans are here to kill women? The same party that releases memos telling people that their mission is to ‘kill Romney?”

It’s the same thing that the Democrats have been doing for 50 years. Do one thing, and then say it is all coming from the other side. The sad part is that their supporters have become so indoctrinated and brainwashed that they refuse to see the forest for the trees.
