‘Transparent’ Season 3 Trailer: The Pfefferman Family Is Transitioning Together

Culture

The biggest piece of news to come out of Amazon's press tour at the Television Critics Association Sunday was a shocker: Transparent season three is coming back Sept. 23. (Season two dropped in December, so it's quite a quick turnaround from production.) To supplement this news, Amazon shared a trailer for the new season — one seemingly focused on the idea of personal transition.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Golden Globe award-winning comedy series' third season will deal with the Pfefferman family as they figure out their own lives in the wake of Maura (Jeffrey Tambor)'s transition. As for Maura, she doesn't want family members to call her Moppa anymore: just mom. This, in turn, surprises fellow family matriarch Shelly (Judith Light).

Moreover, the third season will include flashbacks to 1958, when Maura was 12 years-old and feeling like she's in the wrong body — though there are no glimpses of those flashbacks in the trailer.

Transparent returns to Amazon Prime Video Sept. 23. Watch the trailer below.
