The 2016 Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade proves dogs do Halloween better than humans

Impact

On Saturday, a crowd of nearly 6,000 people and 400 dogs gathered in the rain for the 26th annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade presented by Purina Beggin' and PetSmart.

"Each year, the costumes at the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade get more imaginative and elaborate, and this year was no exception," says Purina Beggin's Nicole Hoffman. "Despite having to brave some challenging weather conditions, hundreds of dogs and thousands of people came out to celebrate 'Howloween' in style."

This year's emcee, television personality Giuliana Rancic, was on hand to crown "Sweet Shop" this year's Best in Show.

Though Hillary Clinton did not attend, her "basket of adorables" did manage to make a surprise appearance.

Dog Rihanna was also in attendance, red carpet and all, outfitted in her Guo Pei 2015 Met Gala dress-meets-coat.
