Stores open on New Year's Day 2017: Target, Whole Foods, CVS and more

2017 is almost here, and those hoping to ring in the New Year with some shopping are in luck. 

Though some stores will remain closed on New Year's Day in observance of the holiday, Jan. 1 shoppers still have plenty of stores to visit.

Here are 15 of the major national chains that shoppers can stop at on Jan. 1. Shoppers should check with their local store locations, however, as opening hours may vary by location.

Superstores

Target: Most stores will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. on New Year's Day.

Walmart: Open regular business hours.

Supermarkets

Publix: Most locations will close at 7:00 p.m. on New Year's Day.

Albertsons: Hours vary by location

Whole Foods: Hours vary by location

Drugstores & pharmacies

CVS: 24-hour locations will remain open, while other locations will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Rite Aid: Stores will retain normal hours, though some 24-hour locations may open later or close earlier on Jan. 1.

Walgreens: As with CVS, stores will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., though 24-hour locations will keep their normal hours.

Macy's: Open regular business hours

Old Navy: Open regular business hours

Other Retailers

Best Buy: Open from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 1.

Bed Bath and Beyond: Most stores open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Barnes and Noble: Hours vary by location

Toys R Us: Open regular hours of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
