Daveed Diggs' appearance on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a far cry from his Hamilton role, but fans don't seem to mind. A quick glance at Twitter reveals an outpouring of love — quite passionate love, actually — for the erstwhile Thomas Jefferson's season-three turn as a soft-spoken philosophy major and primary love interest for Kimmy.
As Perry, Kimmy's hardworking college classmate, Diggs is thoughtful, ambitious and "young, scrappy and hungry." That's where the Hamilton comparisons stop, however. In episode 11, Diggs' character attempts to make philosophy cool by rapping about Socrates for a class presentation. But Lin-Manuel Miranda he is not, so Kimmy ends up swooping in to save the day with some sick rhymes of her own.
