The Super Bowl 2013 was watched by an estimated 108.7 million people, despite the 34-minute black out that interrupted the game between the San Francisco 49ers and  the Baltimore Ravens right after Beyonce's halftime show performance.

And, as a confirmation that the Bowl remains the most-watched and relevant sports and marketing event in the country, President Barack Obama congratulated the new Super Bowl champions the Baltimore Ravens.

According to the White House, the president phoned and congratulated head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome on Tuesday. The Ravens beat the favored 49ers 34-31 on Sunday.

The president said he looks forward to congratulating the team in person at the White House.
