Desiline Victor, the Oldest State of the Union Attendee

Impact

It is time to add a human interest story into my coverage here.  In his speech, Obama made a number of emotional appeals; however, none are quite as tangential as this.  But one might ask themselves, who is Desiline Victor.  This MSNBC story tells the story of who she is.

This story is an interesting picture of voter suppression efforts undertaken to reduce minority votes.  The MSNBC story states that, "A recent analysis by MIT found that, nationwide, minorities waited nearly twice as long to cast their ballots than their white counterparts, while urban voters waited more than twice as long as rural voters."
