Best Picture

Breese's Pick: Argo (-600)

The 82nd Academy Awards (2010) marked the first time in more than six decades that there were more than five films competing for Best Picture. In an ideal year a larger field provides variety, competition and a combination of mainstream and limited-release films. This year hits two of the three, with competition the lone casualty. Argo and Lincoln (+500) are the only two films with a real shot to take home the Oscar. The other seven films that were nominated are all longshots (+2500 or higher) with Amour and Beasts of The Southern Wild both coming off the board at one hundred to one.

After a strong showing at the Golden Globes and the British Academy Film Awards, Argo is as safe a bet as The Artist was last year.
