1-0! Michigan State defeats Valparaiso in the First Game of the Tournament

In the first game of the tournament, Michigan State defeats Valparaiso 65-54 from Auburn Hills, Michigan.  Derrick Nix led the way with 23 points and 15 rebounds including nine on the offensive glass.  The Spartans take on the winner of Memphis and Saint Mary's who play in about 20 minutes.

In some other games going on right now, Butler leads Bucknell 49-42 late in the second half, Pittsburgh leads Wichita State 21-19 in the first half, and Saint Louis leads New Mexico State 6-2 early in the first half.
