NCAA 2013 Upset Watch: Lower Seeds Taking Over Tournament

Culture

Florida Gulf Coast University has been the story of the NCAA Tournament after their colossal upset of mighty Georgetown in the first round, but the Eagles of FGCU aren't the only underdogs who are over-achieving.

In the West bracket alone, only two of the top eight seeds are weren't knocked out of the tournament (Ohio State and Arizona). In a college basketball regular season where parody ruled, it makes sense that the chaotic nature of the season transferred over to the tournament.

Here is a list of the low seeds (9 and above) that got at least one win. Those listed in bold still have a chance at riding the upset train all the way to Atlanta and the Final Four:

15-seed Florida Gulf Coast

14-seed Harvard

13-seed LaSalle

12-seed Ole Miss

12-seed Oregon

12-seed Cal

11-seed Minnesota

10-seed Iowa State

9-seed Temple

9-seed Wichita State

2013 was not the year to pick by seed, especially if you like Gonzaga or Georgetown.
