iPhone 5 Accessories: Kickstarter Introduces Pocket Tripod
A new posting on Kickstarter, everyone's favorite indie funding source for ideas both crazy and brilliant, promises to be the best, and smallest, iPhone stand you ever need.
The "Pocket Tripod," designed by Geometrical Inc., is smaller than a credit card and has the ability to display an iPhone 5 at nearly any angle, in both portrait and landscape modes — an asset which developers hope will differentiate it from an already jam-packed market of third party iAccessories. Early reviews have been positive, including one from Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak: "Great product," Wozniak wrote. "Never would have come about without a great deal of creativity and desire to do something different … it's perfect for me. You can count me in. I never had thought that something like that could be done.
Built from two interconnectable pieces, the designers claim that the puzzle-like stand is simple enough for children to use, and perfect for watching video clips, taking pictures, or reading emails. "The result was a highly refined product, that matches the design and quality of the iPhone itself … the most practical iPhone stand ever."
In addition to the funding campaign, the group has pushed an iPhone app with the intention of letting early investors get as used to using the device as possible without actually having one.
What do you think? Would you give up a little more wallet space for a stand like this?
