2013 NBA Draft Trade Rumors: Sacramento Kings

Culture

If Shabazz Muhammad is tonight's wildcard player then the Sacramento Kings' Pete D’Alessandro is definitely tonight's wildcard GM. The Kings have achieved something truly rare in the Twitter age, an air of mystery. They've been linked to C.J. McCollum, a player they recently worked out for the second time. They've been open to trading down, with the Utah Jazz a likely trade partner. And now, just hours before the first pick, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Kings are trying to trade up to number five. Now Wojnarowski's guess is as good as anybody's and he believes they're targeting Kansas' Ben McLemore. This trade may become too difficult if Alex Len leapfrogs Victor Oladipo and is taken by the Orlando Magic second overall. In that scenario, a handful of teams would be interested in trading with the Suns, driving up the price. There is no doubt that the first hour of the draft will be tumultuous, but I think the Kings have fallen in love with McCollum and this is all just a smoke screen.
