Tropical Storm Chantal Makes Its Way Toward Haiti and Dominican Republic

Impact

This afternoon, tropical storm Chantal has skimmed the southern coast of Dominican Republic and Haiti and has so far lost some of its force. With winds now going at 45mph, and its course changing Chantal will likely not be hitting the island of Hispaniola but residents in the area along with those who were closer to the storm's trajectory will now have to deal with the possibility of heavy floodings. The Dominican Republic reportedly could face as much as 8 inches of rainfall.

Southern Florida is still not in the clear and is expected to be affected all this weekend. Any outdoor events will unfortunately probably have to be moved indoors or resceduled.
