Prior to being named Chief of Staff to the Mayor of St. Petersburg, he served as a communications consultant to a statewide non-profit and as the Political Director for PICO (People Improving Communities through Organizing) United Florida, a network of progressive, faith-based community organizations. From 2006-2012, he served as the Senior Legislative Assistant to then-State Representative Rick Kriseman, overseeing the representative’s policy agenda and communications strategy. In 2012, Kevin managed a successful statewide campaign against Amendment 3, a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment related to Florida’s budget. As the director of the Florida Democratic Party’s House Victory operation in 2008, he managed a team of nearly two dozen campaign managers and the organization’s multi-million dollar budget. Kevin King is a Political Fellow with the Truman National Security Project, a national security leadership institute. He was an invited guest at the White House’s Community Leader Briefing Series in 2011. He is a 2002 graduate of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, earning a degree in Political Science. When not immersed in politics and policy, Kevin enjoys spending time with his family, giving back to his community, and enjoying Florida's outdoors.
