Lionel Beehner is currently a PhD student at Yale University, a fellow at the Truman National Security Project, and a Term Member with the Council on Foreign Relations, where he is formerly a senior writer. He is a member of USA Today’s Board of Contributors and holds an M.A. in international affairs from Columbia University. His research focuses on non-state actors, international legal norms, and the use of force. His writing has appeared in The Atlantic, Foreign Affairs, The New Republic, and Slate, among other publications.
