Michael Strahan Becomes TV Star With Kelly Ripa After NFL Career

After a summer of guinea pigs, Kelly Ripa finally announced her new co-host on the hit morning talk show "Live! With Kelly." Joining Ripa for her morning interviews and mayhem will be NFL star Michael Strahan. Ripa welcomed him for his first morning as official co-host saying, "It has been 9 months and I am about to give birth to my new co-host." 

Strahan provided the awww factor when he came on set and told audiences, "You know how you say it's a dream come true? I truly can't say that because I didn't know that I could even dream this." 

Although producers would not officially comment ahead of time if the new co-host was Strahan, internet rumors had made viewers confident that Strahan was the choice. The other runner up that people were rooting for was Saturday Night Live head writer, Seth Meyers.

Since Regis Philbin left the program last November, Ripa has had 59 guest co-hosts on the program. Strahan, 40, is a former NFL star and is currently the host of Fox NFL Sunday. 

Ripa has been on the morning program since she came to co-host with Philbin back in 2001. For his part, Philbin anchored the program for 28 years.
