Taksim Square Protest: Watch Protesters Sing the 'Les Miserables' Anthem to Protest Government

Impact

Step aside teary-eyed Hathaway. The musically-gifted protesters of Taksim Square recently sang the anthem of Les Miserables and their rendition of "Do You Hear the People Sing" is beautiful.

The video, which is bound to go viral (Russell Crowe, Les Miserables star, already tweeted it this morning), features protesters singing first in English, then in Turkish. Even so, the Turkish citizens' political frustrations — ones that mirror French citizens' frustrations in the book, musical, and later film — are still ever-apparent.

The video is touching. Watch and pass it along.

The best stage rendition is here. But find me on Twitter here.
