Kiese Laymon is a black southern writer from Jackson, Mississippi. He is the author of the essay collection, How To Slowly Kill Yourself and Others, the novel, Long Division and the forthcoming memoir Heavy from Scribner. He is a Professor of English and Creative Writing at University of Mississippi.
